BEEF PARES RECIPE – A Pinoy Street Food
Here is another comfort food that Filipinos love – the Beef Pares. This dish is a well-known street food and loved by many. It is similar to Asado because of its sweet taste. Or it can be mistaken for sweet adobo.
If you are kind of tired of the same old beef nilaga, try this recipe for a change.
1 kilo beef kenchi or beef sirloin cubes
1 onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, julienned
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 cup beef broth
1 star anise
1 chicken cube
2 Tbsp sugar
salt and pepper to taste
Boil the beef cubes Until tender. Set aside the beef and reserve the broth.
In a pan, saute garlic, onions and ginger. Add the beef cubes and let cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the soy sauce, 1 cup of the beef broth, star anise and chicken cube. Let boil. Add the sugar and season with salt and pepper. Mix well and let simmer over low heat until sause thickens. Turn off heat. Serve the beef pares over hot cooked rice.
